Just… stop eating eggs and dairy and don’t tell other people they have to too? Eileen managed pretty ok at that. And I’ve been a vegetarian for 24 years without being that shithead up there. It’s not hard?
Eh, I just hit a moment when I tried where the chef at work was bored so made us all a nice breakfast and presented it to us like “tadaa! have this lovely treat I made you!” and I felt like such a cock for rejecting it because there was milk in it. Admittedly, I was already finding it pretty hard, but it just seemed too petty to refuse him when he was going out of his way. Even to say “thanks but no thanks”, you know?
Oh, right, yeah, that would be pretty awkward, fair point.
Was that the guy who’s name I’m a dickhead for not remembering? As in, the dude chef and not the grumpy woman? He was lovely, he genuinely cared about making us vegetarian food. One time he made me some eggs when the grumpy woman was like “you can have a salad for your ten hour shift idgaf” and then he was on later that night, and then another time he was trying out something for the Christmas menu and he kept a bit for me.
Another time he came up to the bar with a big tub of melting ice cream and was like “there’s no space for this in the freezer, everyone help yourselves” and it was the best day of work ever.
…you know, it’s starting to make a lot more sense to me why my last job in a bar made me depressed and this one didn’t.
