WHERE DO YOU WANT US?

bombthemusicindustry:

We have gotten a lot of nice people saying some very nice things about us. Thank you. We are doing our best to hit a lot of spots one last time, just like we are doing on this tour. So, if you live in a place we have never played, feel bummed out that we will never play there and you can set up a show, please send an e-mail to places@bombthemusicindustry.com. We will do our best to pass through before we hang our hat on the hat hook thing or whatever for good.

ALSO IF YOU BOOK SHOWS ANYWHERE IN EUROPE, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US. WE REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT TO DO A PROPER EUROPE TOUR BEFORE WE ARE DONE.

ok. thanks again.

YES YES YES someone do this! The bit in bold! I will help if you want!

Dublin show! Dublin show! Dublin show!

Crowd Shot #3 (BTMI!)[for the benefit of anyone who finds this through the tags, this is why I’m making a poor attempt to analyse this photo].
This photo has another person who follows me on tumblr in it! Hi, Stu. Anyway I’m running out of things to say about these photos, but I think the big strength of this one is that I’ve caught people in motion in a way that gives the photo a sense of dynamism even without the long exposure movement effects in a lot of my other photos. That also makes the shot a lot clearer, meaning there’s a lot of detail, a lot of people’s faces to discover. Speaking of different ways people behave at gigs actually, you can pretty much make out the line between people who are jumping around and dancing and the ones who are standing towards the back drinking or standing with their arms crossed in this.

RADIO SINGLE.

fionchadd:

honeyishitthehottub:

My boyfriend and his flatmate are doing an hour long show on the radio right now! This is their first week but every Monday at 9pm (UK time) they’ll be playing some good tunes for you all to hear, so you should probably listen so they don’t get upset.

They just played Dillinger 4, Bomb The Music Industry! and World/Inferno Friendship Society in a row, what more could you ask for?

If you want to listen or get involved, you can stream and find out more here:
http://prestongrange-radio.co.uk/

Oh, now they’re playing Andrew Jackson Jihad. Delightful.

FUCK YEAH AJJ! One for Yan, Rob and [name redacted] right here

Awesome! I’m listening now, they’re playing The Evens!

So I DJed last Thursday

I mean. In a manner of speaking. I made token effort at having the songs flow together a bit, but I couldn’t get the headphones to play the deck that wasn’t playing through the speakers so I couldn’t even try to beatmatch, as if I even know how. And as for, like, judging the mood of the crowd and playing what they wanted, fuch that, it’s my turn to DJ, not theirs. Not that there was much of a crowd. One or two people actually told me they liked my set, which probably works out at around twenty percent of the crowd, and that’s probably as good as I can expect.

Anyway. This is what I played (it would have involved a bit more hip-hop and a bit less indie rock, but I left my blank CDs in my girlfriend’s house and had to stick to what I had actually bought/a couple of my parents’ CDs):

  1. Salt n Pepa: Push It
  2. Neutral Milk hotel: Holland, 1945
  3. Sleater-Kinney: Entertain
  4. Fight Like Apes: Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues
  5. You’re Only Massive: Booty
  6. Ratatat: Mirando (which, it turned out, wasn’t the name of the Ratatat song I wanted to play)
  7. Tom Waits: God’s Away On Business
  8. Chewing On Tinfoil: Shaving
  9. Sex Bob-Omb: Threshold
  10. BATS: Gamma Ray Burst: Second Date
  11. Los Campesinos!: My Year In Lists
  12. Bomb The Music Industry!: Big Plans Of Sleeping In I don’t know what this was, it was a CD-R I got from Jeff Rosenstock in 2008 and I thought I’d listened to it but I got two of them and I guess I must have only listened to the other. Anway he must have put the wrong CD in the case he gave me, because whatever it was, it wasn’t Bomb The Music Industry.
  13. Public Enemy: Bring The Noise
  14. Dead Kennedys: California Uber Alles
  15. Chuck Berry: Brown-Eyed Handsome Man
  16. The Thermals: No Culture Icons
  17. Nana Grizol: Circles ‘Round The Moon
  18. Pixies: I’ve Been Tired
  19. Sultans Of Ping - Where’s Me Jumper?

At this point I was running out of things to play, so it became Me vs Holly, who brought some CDs but seemed a bit intimidated by the decks, so I was helping, and then Michael and his friend vs Holly Mediated By Me, which was probably a bit unfair and involved me a bit too much. Anyway, I also ended up playing:

  • Adebisi Shank: International Dreambeat
  • Liars: Mister You’re On Fire Mister
  • Big Black: Kerosine
  • Metric: Black Sheep

I had fun, but I would make a terrible DJ.

Did I mention how Jeff from BTMI! made me a t-shirt with a sharpie?
Thinking of giving growing a beard another shot. Gonna see how long I can put up with the itchiness/if I get another job interview and wimp out again.

GPOYWall.
I put up my new Los Campesinos! poster that I got for free at Truck and decided to take a photo of my wall. This one has the most stuff on it, I might pictures of the other walls too.
Left-Right, starting at the top and moving down:
The corner of a photo mobile in front of the wall, a poster advertising something that I got in London and liked, Heathers poster, Los Campesinos! poster, Bracihiosaurus poster.
Comic from the kids section of the Sunday Times that I got ages ago, probably the funniest thing to ever be in it (not that that’s saying much), Gogol Bordello poster, collage I made, Explosions In The Sky album insert, [brachiosaurus again], Yeh Deadlies setlist.
[comic, Gogol Bordello poster] You’re Only Massive lyrics sheet, setlist, autugraphed Converge poster, balloon from a Tilly and the Wall gig/tiny Ugly Megan EP insert, [brachiosaurus], Tianmen Square Tank Man poster (I’ve had it for years, I think I’d feel like it was a bit tacky to get a poster of it now, but I find the Tank Man story really inspiring).
Papyrus painting my girlfriend got for me in egypt, a setlist from one of my band’s gigs, You’re Only Massive poster, Fight Like Apes photopass/moonstone scarab Eileen got me in Egypt (it glows in the dark!), Bomb The Music Industry! poster, tiny collage I made, tickets and wristbands, Fight Like Apes poster.
Broken Dead Kennedys CD, [YOM poster], Jonny Fun and the… Hesitations setlist, Gran Casino setlist, Los Campesinos! album insert, drawing Aaron sent me, tickets tickets tickets tickets, origami Pikachu made with blue paper (it’s a Squirtlechu!), thermometer, drawing of a rock concert my little brother did for me.
Last row (not at all in line with each other) has a little paper panda head a friend used with wrapping paper for a birthday present, another drawing Aaron sent, and a BATS gig flyer (which I forgot to go to, but it’s a cool flyer).

GPOY: Beard edition.
Damn. It looks slightly better than this in person (as in, at the point of being an actual beard and not just needing a shave) I guess I should’ve kept trying with the pictures. Anyway, circumstances conspired against my shaving for nearly two weeks, and I’ve left it that way out of laziness/curiosity for a few more days. Admittedly, it’s not a great length to show for this long, but at least it’s not patchy or anything.
I like it but it’s pretty itchy and I have a job interview on Wednesday, so it probably won’t last much longer.
Here, have a song about that: http://www.quoteunquoterecords.com/qur004/007.mp3
