David Simon kills three homeless men in bid to retroactively justify fifth season of ‘The Wire’

Do people really hate the fifth season of The Wire that much? Like, is it that unforgivable that it wasn’t quite as good as the fourth? That was a tough act to follow.

  • Lupin Addams: We need more Watchman/The Wire crossovers in this joint.
  • The Mogul: The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about
  • their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout
  • "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "All in the game, Yo."

A man called Omar Little was arrested in Baltimore

  • AV Club Commenter 1: You bring up a good point, we can't know for sure that on Earth 2 The Wire doesn't actually take place in real life and the actual character Omar crossed dimensions and caused a ruckus in Baltimore-1.
  • AV Club Commenter 2: I'm sure they'll work out all the plot threads in CRISIS ON INFINITE CORNERS.
  • AV Club Commenter 3: Meanwhile, in Baltimore-Three, street kingpins Bunk Moreland and Spider McNulty consolidate their hold on the territories formerly controlled by C-Note Daniels. But District Attorney Joseph "Prosecution Joe" Stewart is using the wiretap evidence gathered by Detectives Bell and Barksdale to assemble an airtight case against the Moreland crew. Will Mayor Reg Cousins and Commissioner Dennis Wise back his play?

Oh, AV Club

This is just the perfect picture to go with your headline:

Salman Rushdie calls Game Of Thrones “trash,” The Wire “just a police series”

New mix up!
mixesforfriends:

MFF#11 Whenever I Smell Asphalt
Rob complained about the blurry black and white lomo shots, and suggested that I crop something to album art shape instead. How’s this, Rob?
Anyway, this is the first mix I’ve made just for this blog. Also very possibly the first mix I’ve managed to make where I’ve more or less stuck to a theme the whole way through (the theme was just “songs that sound a bit like this”).
Tracklist:
Shellac - End Of Radio
The Neville Brothers - Way Down In The Hole (Tom Waits)
Dälek - A Beast Caged
Tom Waits - God’s Away On Business
The Clash - Guns of Brixton
Saul Williams - Act III Scene 2 (Shakespeare)
Liars - Mr. You’re on Fire Mr.
Deftones - My Own Summer (Yeah, that’s right, fuck you)
65daysofstatic - Asphalt and Trouble
Gang of Four - Anthrax (Blood Brothers remix)
DJ Shadow - Roy’s Theme
Future Of The Left - The Hope That House Built
Xiu Xiu - I Luv The Valley, OH!
The Flaming Lips With Lightning Bolt - I Wanna Get High, But I Don’t Want Brain Damage
Fugazi - Do You Like Me
King Tubby - Hungry Belly Club
Modest Mouse - Satin In a Coffin
O’Death - Alamar.
